The lens mount shown in the cover shot is a 1.1" lens mount that was sent to us by one of our customers several years ago. He had literally burned a hole in the ZnSe focusing lens, and this was just one of the many lenses he had lost due to spatter induced absorbance. Not surprisingly, our customer wanted us to make him a lens mount to use in his high pressure Amada® laser cutting system which would allow him to use Lens Savers® . The customer had already tried lens protection windows, but had always experienced rapid breakage. This project evolved into one of ICL's first high pressure lens mounts employing our patent pending pressure bypass technology. Photo by Electric Light photoDesign.
